Our founder, Joshua Bwalo Sakala, grew up attending Matero East Basic School in Lusaka, a half-day school, which meant fewer hours in class than children who could afford to attend a private school. Matero Boys Secondary School needed a minimum of 800 marks for admission into Grade 8 in 2010, and with his timetable alone giving him less classroom time than most, he knew he needed more. In 2009 he sat his Grade 7 exams and scored 817, clearing the cutoff, and started at Matero Boys the following year.
The Lory Online School was built with a student like that in mind: someone doing everything right at their own school, who just needs a fair shot at more practice, more past papers, and an honest way to see where they really stand. We call it a "2nd School", not a replacement for the one a child already attends, but the extra study time, testing, and revision that can make the difference, kept as fun as we can make it.
