Terms and Conditions

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to anyone who uses loryschool.online (together, "the Platform"), including parents and guardians who register accounts, the children they enrol, and visitors browsing the site. By using the Platform, a guardian confirms they are registering and managing the account on behalf of their child, and agrees to these terms for both themselves and the child.

2. What we provide

The Lory Online School offers online lessons, past papers and tests, a Spelling Challenge game, progress tracking, and related learning tools for Grade 4 to Grade 7 learners in Zambia, delivered entirely online. We aim to align our content with the Zambian national curriculum, but the Platform is not a registered examination body and does not issue government-recognised certificates.

3. Accounts

• Guardian accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided and for their child's activity on the Platform.
• Each child's profile should reflect accurate details (name, date of birth, grade) so lessons and tests are matched correctly.
• Login details should not be shared outside the immediate family. You're responsible for keeping them secure.
• Each child logs in with their own Student ID. Parents and guardians should make sure their child understands to keep this code private and not share it with classmates or anyone outside the family.
• If a Student ID is ever lost or you believe it's been shared or leaked, contact us through the Contact page or WhatsApp and an admin will reset it. A new Student ID will then be issued to the student, and the old one will stop working immediately.

4. Fees and payment

Current subscription pricing is listed on our Fees page and is charged per child. Payment is currently arranged directly with us through the Contact page or WhatsApp, and a child's account is activated once payment is confirmed. A receipt is issued for every payment. We may update pricing from time to time; any change will apply to new or renewing subscriptions, not to a period you've already paid for.

Refund Policy: A refund may be requested within 5 days of payment. After this 5-day window has passed, no refund can be issued. To request a refund within the window, contact us through the Contact page or WhatsApp.

5. Complaints procedure

If something hasn't gone as it should, we want to hear about it. All complaints must be sent in writing to our official email, theloryonlineschool@gmail.com.

• We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 3 working days.
• We will provide a final response within 10 working days of that acknowledgement.

6. Acceptable use

The Platform is for genuine learning use by enrolled children and their guardians. You agree not to:

• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another user's account, our systems, or any data you're not authorised to see;
• Introduce viruses, malicious software, or attempt to disrupt, hinder, or interfere with the Platform's normal operation;
• Copy or redistribute our lesson content or past papers for commercial use;
• Misrepresent test or Spelling Challenge results, or impersonate another user;
• Harass, humiliate, or send obscene or threatening content to another user, including through the Leaderboard, chat, or any comments feature; or
• Use the Platform in any way that could put another user, especially another child, at risk.

Some of this conduct is also a criminal offence under Zambia's Cyber Crimes Act, 2025, independent of any action we take, and we reserve the right to report suspected criminal conduct to the Zambia Police Service or another relevant authority.

7. Child protection

We have zero tolerance for any use of the Platform to harm, exploit, groom, or endanger a child. The Cyber Crimes Act, 2025 makes it a serious criminal offence, carrying penalties of up to twenty-five years' imprisonment or imprisonment for life depending on the offence, to use a computer system for child pornography, child solicitation, child grooming, or online human trafficking. If we become aware of, or reasonably suspect, this kind of conduct on or through the Platform, we will immediately suspend the account involved and report it to the Zambia Police Service.

If you become aware of anything on the Platform that concerns a child's safety, please contact us right away through the Contact page or by phone.

8. Content and intellectual property

Lessons, past papers, branding, graphics and other materials on the Platform belong to The Lory Online School unless otherwise stated, and are provided for personal, non-commercial learning use by enrolled families only.

9. Accuracy and availability

We take care to keep lessons, results, and information on the Platform accurate and up to date, but we can't guarantee it will always be error-free or available without interruption, particularly given reliance on third-party services (like Firebase, our hosting and database provider) and each family's own internet connection.

10. Suspending or ending access

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, is used fraudulently, is linked to conduct prohibited under the Cyber Crimes Act, 2025, or where fees remain unpaid. You may stop using the Platform and let a subscription lapse at any time.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, The Lory Online School and SBJ Freelance Solutions are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the Platform, including exam outcomes, since results ultimately depend on each learner's own effort and circumstances.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally as the Platform grows. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and significant changes will be flagged through the Notice Board or WhatsApp Channel.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Zambia, including the Cyber Crimes Act, 2025 and the Cyber Security Act, 2025.
